Hypnosis
is a state of relaxed, inward focus which is, in
fact,
experienced naturally every day. Hypnotherapy
helps people to enter this pleasant and relaxing
state for a therapeutic effect.
Hypnotherapy works with the
subconscious mind, which cannot be consciously
controlled, yet drives our habitual patterns and
behaviours in an 'automatic' way. The
subconsious stores the memories of everything that has happened to us and triggers similar thoughts, reactions and emotions based on
past experience. This past response may have
been helpful at some point in our life but is
often outdated and can prevent us from being able to make, more mature choices of response to challenging situations,
and block progress.
During hypnosis, the subconscious becomes receptive
to new ideas and suggestions which encourage more sensible and balanced
attitudes to reality. Hypnotherapy can help us put things into perspective
so that our experience of life changes for the better. Hypnotherapy can be
used to address conditions such as stopping smoking, improving confidence,
managing weight, overcoming fears and phobias, anxiety, problems with
sleeping, relaxation, decreasing the effects of stress, public speaking,
performance anxiety and more besides.
